Gerakan Secretary General Y.B. Datuk Liang Teck Meng condemned PAS’ Pasir Mas MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz who has attributed the Kelantan flood to the wrath of Allah and maintained that it was a heavenly sign that Hudud must be implemented. Liang questioned the logic behind his claims and urged the PAS MP to stop cheating voters simply because they want to implement Hudud in Kelantan.

Liang criticized Nik Mohamad Abduh over his silly and hugely insensitive claims. He argued that Aceh province of Indonesia was hit by devastating tsunami in 2004, 3 years after Hudud was implemented in the province. He challenged the PAS MP to explain why the tragedy happened despite Hudud was in place? How could natural disaster like flood be associated to Hudud?

“It was hugely insensitive for Nik Mohamad Abduh to utter such statements amid sufferings of the flood-affected Rakyat. PAS must stop resorting to unscientific and illogic claims on cause of floods to mislead voters simply because they want to implement Hudud, they must stop the silly act,” said Liang.

Liang urged PAS to own up to mistakes in state governance make amends. He said PAS should stop being obsessed with Hudud and engage in flood relief efforts realistically.
