Gerakan to propose formation of national disciplinary committee

SHAH ALAM: Gerakan will be proposing for the formation of a national disciplinary committee at this Sunday's National Delegates Conference.

Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong said it has been decided by the central committee that Gerakan life members should only be included in the committee, which is to address party discipline issues.

"I believe that with the vast experience that all of you have, you can play the role better and handle it with ease," he added in his opening remarks during the party life member council annual general meeting at Setia City Convention Centre today.

He stressed that the formulation of the committee was necessary as the party currently does not have any formal structure or organisation to handle disciplinary cases.

"Currently all party disciplinary issues are being handled by the party's Disciplinary and Party Constitution chairman Tan Sri Dr Chin Fook Weng and central committee member Datuk Dr Lim Thuang Seng," he said.

He also said there was also a suggestion to set up a think tank to allow all party members to contribute constructive ideas and feedback on how to strengthen the party to face present and future challenges.

"This think tank is needed because it will help the party to move forward and be ready to face with any forthcoming challenges, thus, we welcome all members irrespective of wings or states or even designation in the party to provide their critical suggestion and ideas," he said.
