DAP leader should retract May 13 challenge

By Tan Keng Liang

JULY 8 ― I refer to the statement today by DAP Advisor YB Lim Kit Siang who claim that DAP and Pakatan will not condone or tolerate any May 13 threat but they are prepared to fully co-operate with Umno and BN to ensure there will not be another May 13 in Malaysia.

However, on July 7, it was reported that Penang Deputy Chief Minister II from DAP Dr P. Ramasamy has challenged Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to “bring May 13.” Gerakan Youth welcomes the statement by YB Lim Kit Siang that DAP will not condone or tolerate any May 13 threat and they are prepared to co-operate with BN to ensure there will not be another May 13 in Malaysia.

We urge YB Lim Kit Siang to ensure that his statement will not be mere rhetoric but will have actual implementation within DAP. If YB Lim Kit Siang is sincere, he should ensure DAP take serious action against Dr P. Ramasamy for issuing a challenge to bring May 13. Such statement is irresponsible and totally uncalled for. To date, the Penang Deputy CM has not retracted his challenge or issued any apology for his outburst.

YB Lim Kit Siang must ensure all DAP leaders not to make any further provocative statement relating May 13. The unity of our country must never be forsaken for any political agenda of any party. Press statement by Tan Keng Liang, Gerakan Youth chief , on 8th July 2014.
