Gerakan: Pakatan, too, has no consensus on issues

Gerakan secretary-general Liang Teck Meng today shot back at DAP for asking newly-appointed Gerakan and MCA cabinet members to raise key issues in a cabinet meeting due today - by pointing out that even Pakatan Rakyat does not have consensus on key issues such as hudud.

Without specifically addressing DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng’s challenge for the Gerakan and MCA ministers to ask for an apology from Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over his recent remarks, Liang called out Lim for his “hypocrisy”.

“I was not surprised with Lim’s gung-ho politicking that speaks for his impulsiveness and hypocrisy which have become the hallmarks of his character,” Liang said in a statement today.

“Even Pakatan leaders have so far failed to reach consensus on many important issues, so it was hugely unfair and hypocritical that Lim threw a curve ball to the newly-appointed cabinet ministers,” Liang said.

Liang reiterated that Gerakan is “determined” to play an effective role in the cabinet.

T“DAP must declare that they will leave Pakatan if PAS implements hudud in Kelantan to prove their political determination,” he said.

“DAP must stop Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim from pushing ahead with the Kinrara–Damansara Expressway (Kidex) which has been strongly opposed by Selangor residents,” he further added.

Liang said that Lim should not be too obsessed with “excessive politicking”, and should instead demonstrate “true leadership”.
