Gerakan Wanita expresses full support to Najib's pledge

IPOH: Gerakan Wanita has expressed full support to the pledge made by Datuk Seri Najib Razak to appoint Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong as minister.
Wanita Gerakan chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe said she left the matter with the prime minister.
"It's not my right or party to decide on the ministerial post or the portfolio offered to Gerakan president. It's the prime minister's prerogative," Tan told reporters here today.
She was commenting on a pledge made by Najib to appoint Mah if he were to win the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election on May 31.
Mah regained Teluk Intan in a close fight with a 238-majority win over DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.
Tan said Mah's appointment as a Cabinet minister would be of benefit to Teluk Intan voters as he would be in a better position to solve their woes.
Mah, who was Teluk Intan MP for two terms from 1999, was appointed deputy international trade and industry minister in 2004 and two years later, deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister.
