Penang Gerakan backs Teng’s leadership

Penang Gerakan secretary Oh Tong Keong has affirmed that all Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties would be working more cohesively and will be more united under the leadership of Penang Gerakan chief Teng Chang Yeow.

Oh stressed that despite being defeated in the 2013 General Election, the spirit, comradeship and friendship among Penang BN component parties remained highly cordial.

Oh also affirmed that Penang Gerakan was “solidly” behind Teng as Penang BN chairman and that with Teng’s leadership, Penang BN would be an effective and responsible Opposition in the state.

He said Teng’s re-appointment as Penang BN chairman showed that Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak had confidence and trust in Teng’s leadership.

“We have confidence and faith in Teng’s leadership and that the coalition’s main focus is to regain the confidence and support of Penangites,” Oh said in a media statement.

Oh said to be a responsible Opposition,  effectively playing a check-and-balance role against the Pakatan Rakyat state government, would involve lots of hard work and research.

For instance, he said there should be enough proof, relevant documents and supportive information before any issue was taken up.
