Gerakan Youth chief urges organisers to call off anti-government rally

ALOR STAR: National Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang urged organisers of an anti-government rally to quash their plan to hold the rally tomorrow.

Tan said the masterminds, most of whom linked to the Opposition supporters, should be matured in anticipating the risk of holding such rally, which may lead to a chaos.

"After failing to overthrow the Federal government though the democratic means, they are shifting their strategy by going to the streets.

"The organisers purposely select the date on Dec 31 to take advantage of the crowd gathering in Dataran Merdeka to usher the New Year," he said.

"This rally is just a ploy by the Opposition leaders to put pressure on the Malaysian government.

"The rally could also tarnish Malaysia's image and I urge the people to distance themselves from participating in the rally," he said in a press conference at the state Gerakan headquarters here today.
