Keng Liang elected as Gerakan Youth chief

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26: Tan Keng Liang is now Gerakan National Youth chief after defeating Oh Tong Keong at the Gerakan party polls Friday night.

Citing his future plans and goals, Tan said will start preparing the party for the 14th General Election.

My main focus is to aid Gerakan as well as Barisan Nasional to do better in the next general election, said the newly-elected Youth chief.

Tan, the Kedah Gerakan Youth chief, who had a total of 210 votes compared to 165 for Oh. He replaced Datuk Lim Si Pin as Youth chief.

I will have a meeting with all elected committee members to decide on our next course of action, he said before the official announcement, adding that everyone in the party should work as one team.

Tan, 36, has been in the party since 2005 and is a full-time lawyer by profession.

The deputy president post was won by Andy Yong Kim Seng with 193 votes, defeating Teow Jit Meng with 183.

The three vice-president positions were taken by Raja Muharimi Raja (354 votes) followed by Eee Chin Oon (345) and Yap Wen Piau (205).
