Gerakan Wanita chief to contest for Perak chief post

IPOH: Gerakan Wanita chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe has offered herself to contest the Perak Gerakan chairman post in the party's state elections, slated for Oct 6.

A former two-term member of parliament before she lost to state DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming for the Taiping parliamentary seat in the 13th general election, Tan believed her vast experience would help her in the bid.

She said her good working relation with all Gerakan divisions in the state would also serve as a plus point for her.

"My immediate task is to strengthen the party after the recent election.

"I believe I have what it takes to be the next state Gerakan chairman," she told the New Straits Times.

Besides Tan, the only other candidate who had voiced his intention to contest the top post, was Gopeng division chief Dr Lee Chee Peng.
