Deepavali Message 2011 By Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon President of Parti Gerakan

As the Festival of Lights, Deepavali signifies the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness. The values and principles that Hindus re-affirm while commemorating Deepavali are of relevance to all peoples, as they have much in common with the values as promoted by various other religions.

I trust Deepavali will light the way for us in our journey towards Vision 2020 through various transformation programs to achieve harmonious and peaceful society with higher income and better quality of life for all.

Moreover, Deepavali has become an occasion for social interaction, within the Hindu community and amongst neighbours and friends of all races and religions to share their joy with a great sesnse of togetherness. This is indeed what 1Malaysia is all about.

In the face of uncertainly and unrest worldwide, it is crucial that we in Malaysia continue to practice moderation and inclusiveness so that we can sustain and strengthen our social fabric to move forward together.
In closing, on behalf of Parti Gerakan, I would like to wish Deepavali Valthukkal to all Malaysians and may the light of Deepavali lead all of us to a brighter and better future.
