Anwar should not question PM’s sincerity, Gerakan Press Statement by Penang Gerakan Chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan

Gerakan lauded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s move to introduce a new category of Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships which would be based purely on merit.

Penang Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan said the party fully welcomed Najib’s sincerity in wanting to implement a project or programme in a just and fair manner.

“We believe it will resolve once and for all the finger-pointing of unfairness and lack of transparency by people when the scholarships are awarded each year,” said Dr Teng in a statement.

Dr Teng said although the Prime Minister was doing the right thing for Malaysia and the people, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim purposely chose to question Najib’s sincerity.

Anwar had said that the last time he suggested such a plan, he was called a Chinese agent and a traitor to the Malays.

Dr Teng said Anwar’s statement was bedecked with racial slur to instigate.
