LIM GUAN ENG TO CLARIFY RM450 MILLION PROJECT CONTROVERSY

LIM GUAN ENG TO CLARIFY RM450 MILLION PROJECT CONTROVERSY

GERAKAN NATIONAL PRESIDENT
DATUK DR DOMINIC LAU HOE CHAI

SEPTEMBER 17, 2019

Gerakan President Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai urged the Minister of Finance Lim Guan Eng to clarify as soon as possible the letter of a contract worth RM450 million directly awarded by the Prime Minister.

He said that PH government fail to fulfill its promise of open tendering for more than a year. Now there is a fishy project contract worth RM450 million.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Finance letterhead letter recently said that the Prime Minister directly awarded a contract worth RM450 million to a company. The Minister of Finance, Lim Guan Eng said he did not know when he was interviewed by the media. The Prime Minister also said that he did not approve it.  The public is confused.

He questioned a project involving such a large amount, how could Lim Guan Eng as the finance minister and Prime Minister Tun Mahathir do not know.

He pointed out that according to letter circulating on the Internet, the Minister of Finance has approved the issuance of contracts to the relevant companies. So he believes that it is necessary for the Ministry of Finance to immediately clarify and explain the truth to the public.

He issued a statement today saying that Lim Guan Eng repeatedly stated that the letter was not signed by him, but if the official letter is true, why is the letter of approval for the RM450 million large value contract not signed by the finance minister?

"Who is higher than minister in the Ministry of Finance? Why he could sign a project with such a high price? This is a very serious flaw."

He stressed that PH manifesto is open tender. But now PH seems to be self-defeating and breaching promises.
