Tell us how many pre-war houses bought by foreigners, asks Penang Gerakan Youth

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan Youth has demanded the state government to clarify the number of pre-war houses bought by foreigners in the state's heritage zone area.

Its assistant secretary Loh Kit Mun slammed Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and state Local Government Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow for recently providing different figures on the matter in their written replies at the state Legislative Assembly sitting.

"Chow, in a reply has said that a total of 18 houses in the heritage enclave has been bought by foreigners during the sitting on May 1.

"Lim however contradicted Chow's answer to state that 61 units, including one unit bought by foreign company during the latest sitting on Nov 15.

"The figure recorded in Lim's reply was only up to May 2014," he said at the state Gerakan headquarters here today.

He also showed copies of their written replies to the media to prove the inconsistency between Lim and Chow's statements.

Loh urged the state government to come clean on the matter.

"Who is correct? Everyone in Penang has the right to know the real answer." he said.
