2016 Deepavali Message

Gerakan National President cum

Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities

Y.B. Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong

On October 29, we join worldwide Hindu and Sikh communities in celebrating the festival of lights Deepavali in Malaysia. On this holy day, Malaysians from different ethnic groups, faiths and backgrounds will jointly celebrate the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. This is also a perfect time for us to renew bonding and celebrate yet another challenging but fruitful year.

Deepavali is not only a festival to be celebrated, it also holds a deeper meaning where it sends a very strong and resounding message that good deeds will always bring light to the world. The never ending pursuit of universal righteousness must never relent or forsake. We should take inspiration and encouragement from Deepavali and renew our commitment to continue our nation’s struggle for development with strength and fortitude.

It is glad to know that the government is showing due care and diligence in upholding and protecting the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of the Indian community. This special community has been dedicated, hardworking and enduring that contributed immensely to the country’s decades-long national development. They deserve greater respect and appreciation.

In conjunction with Deepavali, I hope the festival of lights will bring forward growth and prosperity to the Indian community. This is the chief Deepavali message that Gerakan joins in honoring and celebrating the advent of Deepavali. I would like to extend my warmest invitation to all members of the society to attend Gerakan’s Deepavali Open House at Dewan Wawasan Tun Dr. Lim Keng Yaik, Menara PGRM on November 6, 2016, commencing at 10am.

On behalf of Gerakan, I wish all Malaysians especially our fellow Hindus and Sikhs a very happy and prosperous Deepavali.
