Hudud bill: ‘Don’t be ridiculous’, Gerakan slams Ramasamy

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27: Gerakan vice president Datuk A. Kohilan Pillay has lambasted DAP’s P. Ramasamy for challenging non-Malay Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to quit the coalition over the tabling of PAS’ Private Member’s Bill facilitating for hudud implementation in Kelantan.

In a statement today, Kohilan accused Ramasamy as being “bias”, saying that it was DAP who worked with PAS by giving its consent to PAS’ pursuit of hudud and hoodwinking the non-Muslim voters to support PAS in the last general election that led to current crisis.

“DAP’s challenge is totally ridiculous as it was they who decided to work with PAS in the last two general elections and helped PAS into mainstream politics.

“They agreed to PAS’ hudud to fulfil their selfish political agenda of maintaining power by signing a memorandum recognising PAS’s right to pursue its Islamic agenda, this must not be forgotten and DAP must be held responsible for today’s crisis,” said Kohilan

Kohilan added that DAP should look themselves in the mirror as it was their greed and arrogance who made them work with PAS.

He reminded Ramasamy that DAP has no moral right to criticize others as DAP despite its farcical political drama to severe ties with PAS, it still today shares the same meeting table with PAS Exco in Selangor state government.

Kohilan said 3 DAP Exco, Teng Chang Khim, Ean Yong Hian Wah, Ganabatirau Veraman should quit the Selangor state government to show consistency in their position against Hudud.

“DAP’s Ramasamy’s hypocrisy was utterly gross, stop misleading the public or questioning others while in fact you was the reason behind the today’s crisis.

“DAP must explain the continued collaboration with PAS in Selangor state government and at other levels as well, you should quit first and clarify above all else, stop pussy footing around, for once walk the talk,” said Kohilan.
