Sarawak polls: Gerakan mocks opposition for playing ‘Russian roulette’

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28:  Gerakan chastised opposition parties DAP and PKR over the game of “Russian roulette” they are playing in the Sarawak state election and questioned their principles in power sharing.

Gerakan vice president, Datuk A. Kohilan Pillay said that the opposition parties conduct in the Sarawak state election is clear evidence that they are unfit to govern.

“DAP and PKR are contesting against one another in six seats and PAS has said that it wants Pakatan Harapan that comprises of DAP, PKR and Amanah to lose all their seats.

“Where are the principles and the notion of power sharing? It is a game of Russian roulette when it comes to the opposition,” said Kohilan.

He is referring to the six seat clashes at the Sarawak state election between PKR and DAP, which has caused the two parties to butt-heads.

Kohilan had also challenged PKR and DAP to dismiss PAS’ representatives from the state EXCO of Selangor, given their open call for the complete annihilation of Pakatan Harapan in Sarawak’s state election and reminded PKR and DAP that this is their moment of truth.

He added that unpredictable nature of opposition pacts from Barisan Alternative to Pakatan Rakyat and now Pakatan Harapan, demonstrates the weakness in terms of understanding and coordination between the respective members.

He added that each eyeing for their own benefits, without upholding the real spirit of cooperation.

“Both DAP and PKR are already in violation of their very own agreement where under Article 5.2, member parties are only allowed to place one Pakatan Harapan candidate during any election.

“What is more shocking is the attitude of both Lim Guan Eng and Azmin Ali, each leader in their respective parties wiping their hands clean on this matter,” said Kohilan.

“It is about time the people stand up and tell the opposition they had enough of the constant hoodwinking and theatrics,” he said.

Kohilan added that the people of Sarawak must punish the opposition for making Malaysians fools and once again, Barisan Nasional is not only the natural choice but the best choice to propel Malaysia forward.
