Guan Eng owe people an explanation, Gerakan Press Statement by Penang Gerakan Chairman, Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan March26, 209

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng owed the people an explanation over the detention of his deputy, Mohamed Fairus Khairuddin, by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

In a statement, Penang Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan said the detention had raised several questions which the public would want to know.

“We are also unsure whether the state government is now facing a crisis. Earlier, we heard speculation that Lim’s Chief of Staff, Jeff Ooi, and the state’s strategy adviser Liew Chin Tong were considering to quit their posts,” said Dr Teng.

He said Fairus’s case contradicted the state government’s principles of competency, accountability and transparency.

Dr Teng said Lim should not absolve himself the responsibility that he had picked the wrong persons to run the state government.
