Gerakan slams DAP double standards

“It is convenient for DAP to fight for freedom of the press and freedom of expression when it is in their interest but when they are on the receiving end, they cry foul,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Freedom cuts both ways, DAP must understand this or lose their right to fight for these fundamental rights,” he added.
Liang added that DAP leaders also made a string of blunders in defending the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s bungalow purchase.

Most notable, he said, were Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong's comments against The Star’s "misleading headline", Seputeh MP Teresa Kok's "feng shui excuse", and the attack against Skohns Canteen, which ran an online advertisement poking fun at Lim’s "no-swimming pool, below market value" bungalow.

Liang also said that since Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang had basically refuted Liew and acknowledged that The Star had correctly reported on the matter, he should apologise to the newspaper.

He added that video recordings posted online had proven that previous comments made by DAP leaders were accurately reported and they were not misquoted.

Liang urged DAP members to stop prejudicing investigations by suggesting that police were intimidating businesswoman Phang Li Koon, who sold the bungalow to Guan Eng, over her statutory declaration on the issue.
