Socio-Economic Development And Research Institute (“SEDAR Institute”)
Introduction
SEDAR Institute plays the role of an independent research and development Institute to conduct research and to monitor key socio-economic issues of strategic importance to our national and societal progress, growth and stability. Its intent is to be recognized as a thought leadership institute in Malaysia and also at ASEAN level.
The SEDAR Institute will be staffed with a qualified and experienced team of analysts on board and forward looking Management and Working Committees. While an Advisory Panel of highly regarded individuals and personalities will contribute knowledge, ideas and inputs via SEDAR for the benefit of all Malaysians.
SEDAR will also be charged with the responsibility of addressing the needs of the marginalized groups and generating ideas on how to create a more fair and just society in Malaysia.
SEDAR Institute is a non-profit organization established as a company limited by membership.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the SEDAR are specifically to:
- Help develop ideas and strategies to achieve Vision 2020 and to ensure that national development policies and programmes are in line with Vision 2020.
- Develop ideas and proposals to help Malaysia make the quantum leap into a globally connected 21st Century knowledge economy.
- Help bring about “Bangsa Malaysia” through brainstorming sessions, workshops, seminars and publications.
- Monitor the implementation of government policies to ensure there is no over zealous or misimplementation of National Policies and Programmes.
- Put forward new ideas and proposals to the national leadership and Malaysian government as the new National Agenda for the New Millennium.
SEDAR’s Approach
SEDAR will be conduct its activities through healthy exchanges of ideas and inputs. The activities are planned as below:

Membership
SEDAR welcomes members from all walks of life and background as long as they subscribe to the concepts and objectives of Vision 2020 and “Bangsa Malaysia”.
