Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia,
together with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, and under the mandate
given by The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, is organizing
a visit to Malaysia for a group of Iraqi Members of Parliament. They
are part of the Constitution Drafting Committee of their country, and
are here to study the Malaysia legal, constitutional and Parliamentary
systems.
In the course of their tour, they will visit and be briefed by The
Speaker of the Senate, The Minister of Foreign Affairs, The Menteri
Besar of Perak, The Speaker of the Penang State Assembly and other
leaders.
In addition, there will be a dialogue with members of the Back
Benchers’ Club. They will also call upon the Chief Minister of
Penang, and be meeting the Perak State Syariah Chief Judge. They will
be briefed by senior officials from the Ministry of National Unity, the
Chief Justice’s chambers and will be meeting the Chairman and
members of the Bar Council. They will also be having in-house sessions
with academics and professionals on inter-ethnic issues, legal and
constitutional matters.
Parti Gerakan, in line with the Government’s policy, is honored
to render some assistance in the re-construction process of Iraq, in
particular, the drafting of their Constitution.
We look forward to the restoration of peace and the rule of law in that
nation and the adoption of a democratic system of Government.
