Gerakan National Youth Chairman, Dato’ Mah Siew Keong call for the government to make public Petronas account.

After the fuel price hike on 5th June, rakyat became more doubtful why Petronas as the national oil corporation which had big gained from the international oil price increase was unable to absorb the rising cost of fuel with its profits.

Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) like Proton and Sime Darby must release their annual report, why not Petronas? Furthermore, Petronas is wholly owned by the government and the rakyat shall have rights to view the account. Let’s make public Petronas account, the account will answer the thousands of questions. Let us not give opportunity for the opposition to continue exploiting this issue politically.

Gerakan Youth hope that the release of Petronas account will be part of the government reform and urge the cabinet to look into it seriously. With the Petronas account to be made public, rakyat will know the profits made by Petronas and they will know how these profits are being spent.

Since the fuel price hike, public are still feeling unhappy and skeptical towards government despite several positive moves been taken by the government including administration cost-cutting. Therefore, government should remove the uncertainty of the rakyat and earn back their confidence to the government.
