Gerakan National Youth Chairman, Dato’ Mah Siew Keong welcome the statement of MCA Vice President, Datuk Ong Tee Keat that MCA, the second largest Barisan Nasional (BN) component party needs to change by adopting a more multiracial outlook and multiracial approach. Gerakan Youth hope that this bold and pragmatic move can be achieved and looking forward that if more of BN component parties become multiracial then it can help the realisation of forming a multiracial BN Party. The positive move and strategic change by forming a multiracial BN Party after 50 years of independence will continuously keep BN relevant in the national political landscape.
We are now in a borderless world. So why should the major political parties still have barricades to other races? The recent general election shown that a substantial number of Malays, Chinese and Indians voted across ethnic lines, while a recent survey indicated that 70% of voters believe that BN component parties should merge into a multiracial party. We should listen to the rakyat. As such, Gerakan Youth welcome Datuk Ong Tee Keat’s vision of MCA assuming a multiracial outlook. Gerakan Youth believe that if all political parties adopt this approach, then this will be the first step towards the formation of a single multiracial BN Party.

Gerakan National Youth Chairman
