Gerakan National Youth Chairman, Dato’ Mah Siew Keong today welcome the latest survey done by Merdeka Center that two third of Malaysians want one (1) Barisan Nasional (BN) multiracial party.
“Gerakan Youth is fighting for merger since last National Delegates’ Conference but we received cold response from component party leaders. It is the ripe time for all the 14 BN component parties to merge as a single BN multiracial party.”
Gerakan Youth proposed to merge all the 14 BN component parties at its National Delegates’ Conference last October but was rejected by many component party leaders who cited it was not the right time to do so.
“I urge the BN Chairman, YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and all component party leaders to study and consider our proposal seriously.”
Besides that, Gerakan Youth agreed and supports call by Gerakan Acting President, Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon that BN should call for monthly or more regular meeting at supreme council level and even at grassroots level including state, division, parliamentary and state constituencies.
BN component parties should not only work together during general election but have to increase the co-operation at all levels while studying on the merger.
“To all my BN comrades, why not let us make a move forward immediately as the results of the general election proved the need for a single multiracial BN party.
Dato Mah Siew Keong,
Gerakan National Youth Chairman
