Some 300 parents and children from Jelutong, Batu Lanchang, Sungai Pinang and Datuk Keramat took advantage of the party to spend some quality time together.

The children played games like Limbo Rock and Simon Says, took part in competitions like balloon blowing and watched a hila rious magic show performed by a clown.

A group of kids from Ramakrishna Orphanage also joined in the fun and even performed a dance for everyone at the party.

Themed ‘A Fun Day’, the three-hour event was a community project put together by the Jelutong Wanita Gerakan division.

Organising chairman Calyn Goi said that the party, which brought parents and their children together, helped curb social problems among the community’s youths.

Present at the event to play games with the children were Jelutong Member of Parliament Datuk Lee Kah Choon, assemblymen Ng Fook Onn (Batu Lanchang), Ong Thean Lye (Datuk Keramat) and Wanita Gerakan chief Datuk Tan Lian Hoe.

Tan urged parents to strengthen their relationships with their children and instil high moral values in them.

“Build a happy and strong family because that will keep our children safe from social ills.

“Do not shower them with money because it does not substitute love and quality family time,” Tan said in her speech.
