KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Gerakan will recommend that its former chairman, Datuk Rhina Bhar, be appointed to the party’s central committee (CC).

Chairman Tan Lian Hoe said yesterday that although the decision rested with party president Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik, the wing would try to get Rhina appointed to the decision-making body.

Tan, who chaired the movement’s first CC meeting after the Aug 27 elections, said the committee appointed Penang Wanita Gerakan chairman Ng Siew Lai as the movement’s new secretary-general.

She will be assisted by Priscilla Yong Fuie Moy, who is the deputy secretary-general.

The meeting also appointed Ko Sok Ten as treasurer-general, Ong Kin Suan as speaker, Chea Yoon Chow as deputy speaker and Datin Alice Tan Pek Yee as vice-chairman.
