| PENANG, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Chief Minister, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon is scheduled to make an investment presentation in San Jose, US on Wednesday to woo foreign investors to the northern region.
Dr Koh, who will represent the region's three states -- Penang, Perak and Kedah -- will make the presentation in a special session in conjunction with Malaysia's Trade and Investment Mission to the west cost of the US, led by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz.
Dr Koh, who led a two-member Penang delegation to the US since Sept 17, would be there until Sept 23, a statement issued by his office said here Monday.
While there, the Chief Minister would participate in the inaugural Biotech Roundtable Meeting 2005 in San Francisco, which will be chaired by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Besides the Biotech Roundtable Meeting, the trip was also initiated to encourage US biotech companies to develop smart partnerships and collaboration programmes with local universities, hospitals, research institutions and start-up biotech companies.
"It is also to attract new technology companies to invest in Penang," the statement said.
Dr Koh would also meet individual members of the Biotech Roundtable as well as existing and potential US investors in San Jose.
"These meetings will help the State Government and Invest-In-Penang Berhad (investPenang) to explore and encourage new investment and reinvestment opportunities as well as to attract their suppliers to locate in Penang," the statement said. |
