KUALA LUMPUR: It's back to the grind for "vanquished" Puchong MP Lau Yeng Peng of the Gerakan.
Lau, who was MP since 1994 until he lost to DAP's Gobind Singh Deo in the recent general election by 11,882 votes.
Although Lau will now spend more time in his business, which includes computer software and construction, he said he would not neglect his supporters.
"My political work will still continue as there is still some unfinished work in my constituency," he said.
On his defeat, Lau said it was the decision of the people.
"The polls were conducted in a democratic, fair and transparent manner.
"My defeat does not reflect on the concerted efforts put in by me and my team.
"Rather, it reflects national sentiments and protest votes cast against the Barisan Nasional owing to various factors, including the apathy and arrogance of some leaders."
Lau said regardless of how credible the BN candidate was, the seat would still have been lost.
