As a political party committed to the Malaysian line, Parti Gerakan has trodden an uneasy path in the last twenty years. With an expanded organisational base, we have been able to harness greater influence at both grassroot and governmental levels. Under the collective leadership of sincere, capable and dedicated leaders, we have also been able to play our active role in communicating the rakyat’s aspirations to the highest authorities. However, we should never be complacent with what we have done. We should also be aware of the problems and tasks that lie ahead of us. 

MALAYSIAN NATIONALISM is an effective weapon to combat the root causes of communalism, extremism, religious fanatism and cultural chauvinism. In years to come, Parti Gerakan will continue to strive hard to help propagate BANGSA MALAYSIA not so much as to win votes but more because we fervently believe that it is the correct ideology to unite all Malaysians for the creation of a liberal and progressive society. It is in this regard that we have repeatedly called for a revamped Supreme Council of Barisan Nasional to deliberate and approve general policy guide lines on major national issues within the broad general framework of ‘Musyawarah’. 

Our ideals will pass from mind to mind and finally materialise if we rally around the banner of ‘SATU HATI’.
