PENANG, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Gerakan president Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik has a "2668" formula to determine when he will give up his post for his deputy Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon to take over.

Why "2668"?

Dr Lim said the figure represents the 26 years he has held the post and his age at 68 on April 8 next year.

Based on that formula, he said with tongue firmly in cheek, he should retire some time between April and October next year when the party would hold its leadership election.

"I cannot continue after that because the numbers 27 and 69 carry an obscene meaning in the Cantonese dialect," he said before bursting into laughter when he spoke to reporters after opening the Penang Gerakan delegates conference today.

He was earlier asked whether it was true that he would step down in March.
