KUALA LUMPUR: The Gerakan party elections have been slated for October.
Top party posts will be contested during the annual national delegates conference on Oct 11 and 12 while the Wanita and Youth elections will be held on Oct 10.
Nominations should be submitted to party headquarters by Oct 4.
Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye said branches should hold their elections between the end of next month and June 16 while divisional polls should be held before July 28. The election of state officials should be done by Sept 19.
Chia said the party had 1,600 branches nationwide, representing an increase of 100 branches since the general election.
"This time, we hope there is a change in 30 per cent of leaders at branch level to encourage rejuvenation," he said.
