PENANG, April 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) is ready to open a second Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Penang if requested by the Transport Ministry.
MAB senior general manager (Corporate Planning) Datuk Mahat Samah said discussions were being held with various parties, including the Transport Ministry, on the proposed second LCCT.
He was responding to Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon's statement yesterday that the state government would allocate a 36-hectare site at the Bayan Lepas International Airport to build the LCCT, the second in the peninsula after the one at the KL International Airport.
Earlier, when opening a motivational programme at Sekolah Menengah (SM) Batu Maung here, Mahat said MAB had chosen two schools near the Bayan Lepas airport for its smart school programme.
The SM Batu Maung and Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Maung would receive an allocation of more than RM500,000 over three years to carry out activities to motivate students to excel.
